Job Title: Substitute TeacherReports to: PrincipalPurpose Statement: The job of Substitute is done for the purpose/s of supporting instruction, supervising students, and promoting student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher or paraprofessional.Essential Functions:
- Facilities classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans for the purpose of improving student success in academics.
- Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, playground, hallway, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned for the purpose of providing an orderly classroom and a positive learning environment.
- Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal for the purpose of supporting building needs.
- Reports incidents (e.g. disagreements, suspected child abuse, injuries, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to school policies and procedures.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated for the purpose of meeting needs throughout the Carthage R-9 School District.
- Responsible for the same legal and procedural responsibilities as regular classroom teacher or paraprofessional.
Other Functions
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
