Substitutes are essential in ensuring students continue to learn and grow every day. Flexible work schedule provided if needed. Opportunities for training and job shadow as part of onboarding. Responsibilities:
- Assume duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans, school rules, and district policies
- Leading instruction in the classroom by conducting the teacher's existing lesson plans
- Instructing students on classroom topics/courses
- Building positive relationships
- Empower students to learn, and encourage classroom participation
- Build a classroom environment that's conducive to learning and appropriate to the ability and interests of students
- Adapt to the various learning styles of students
- For long-term assignments, it may be required to develop lessons plans, as well as build, administer, and grade tests and assignments
Substitute teachers receive $110 per day. Qualifications: If you hold a bachelor's degree from an approved institution, you may serve as a substitute teacher in a Connecticut public school system. If you have credits towards a bachelor's and your application is supported by the Meriden Public Schools, you may receive a one year certificaiton to work as a substitute teacher.
