QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possess a valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate.
  • Completion of a clear background check.
  • Ability to teach all levels and types of courses.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide differentiated instruction and intervention to students exhibiting a wide range of abilities and behaviors.
  • Any additional combination of training or experience which would lead to successful employment as a Substitute Teacher.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and district laws and policies.
  • Promote and adhere to the district mission, core beliefs, academic goals, and target areas.
  • Follow lesson plans as directed.
  • Administer and correct assessments.
  • Provide report for itinerant teacher.
  • Maintain order of classroom and equipment.
  • Understand and respond to the unique characteristics of learners.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and appropriate learning environment.
  • Establish and maintain a learner-centered culture.
  • Utilize a variety of research-based instructional strategies.
  • Motivate and engage students in learning, problem solving and collaboration.
  • Adjust instruction based on a variety of assessments and student responses.
  • Engage in collaborative learning opportunities for self-renewal with colleagues.
  • Participate in school-wide collaborative efforts to support the success of all students.
  • Work with parents, guardians, families and community entities to support student learning and well-being.
  • Promote practices and policies that improve school environment and student learning.
  • Provide measurable progress of student learning of state-approved curricula.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct as defined in law, policy and procedure at the state, district, and school level.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
