YOU can make a difference for our Telluride students. Telluride School District is looking for substitutes, including on call, part time, long term, and permanent substitutes. SUMMARY Substitute Guest Teachers implement student daily instructional plans in the absence of the classroom teacher with the following: Guides the learning process toward the achievement of the District curriculum and goals in an effective manner, ensuring a safe classroom environment, proper classroom management, and maintaining reasonable ruies of conduct encouraging self-disciplince and responsibility. Serves as a positive role model for students, demonstrating professionalism that includes a postiive attitude, postiive and respectful communication, and professional appearance.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - Reports to the main office for room assignment upon arrival and checks out in the main office at the end of the day
- Arrives at building (according to the school work day/ hours) with enough time to check in, review substitute plans, and be prepared for the day when the students enter the classroom
- Implements the instructional plans prepared by the teacher
- Clearly communicates expectations and adapts to individual learning needs, providing individual and small group instruction
- Follows all necessary and reasonable safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
- Provides feedback to the teacher regarding instruction, discipline and other events of the day
- Maintains a professional and positive rapport wiht parents/ co-workers/ administration
- Licensed substitutes may sub for teachers and paraeducators
- Other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE - Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administration, parents, students and staff members
- Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and implement effective classroom management skills
- Ability to follow directions left by classroom teacher
- Ability to think on their feet and work in a collaborative manner to engage children and manage behaviors in the classroom

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High School diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred All candidates will need to submit fingerprints for a background check Candidates must have or be able to obtain a Colorado Substitute Authorization. Complete the online application here
COMPENSATION - $150/day for non-certified teacher subs holding a valid Colorado Substitute Teaching authorization
- $170/day for certified teacher subs holding a valid Teaching License or a Five Year Substitute Teacher authorization which is only available to prior certified teachers.
- Additionally, any substitute will get a $15/ day supplement starting on their 31st day subbing in a given school year and for the remainder of that year.
All school district employees, including substitutes, pay into PERA (Public Employees Retirement Association) instead of social security. The Telluride School District also contributes 21.4% into PERA on your behalf. The more you work, the better it gets. Employees earn one month of PERA service credit for each month that they earn a minimum salary of $580.
