Substitute TeacherA major priority of the Texas City Independent School District is the employment of highly qualified teachers as well as highly qualified individuals to serve as substitutes in the absence of regular classroom staff. District staff are sometimes unavailable to fulfill their regular assignments due to personal or family illness, professional development activities, or other school related duties and, in their absence, substitute team members provide the essential function of continuity of the educational process for District students.Working under the direct supervision of the principal, substitute teachers are expected to comply with the school laws of Texas, the regulations of the State Board of Education, the directives of the Texas Education Agency, the policies of the Board of Trustees, and the administrative regulations of the school district.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 30 college credits from an accredited college/university (bachelor's degree with a valid teaching certificate preferred)Pay:Educator Certified: $130.00 per day(Long-Term Professional/Teacher $165.00 per day after 10 consecutive full days in same position)Degreed Professional: $90.00 per day(Long-Term Professional/Teacher $125.00 per day after 10 consecutive full days in same position)30 + College Hours $85.00 per day(Long-Term Professional/Teacher $120.00 per day after 10 consecutive full days in same position)Substitute Aide Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under the supervision of the teacher.Instructional Support
Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.Help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment.Help teacher keep administrative records.Assist the classroom teacher as requested.Student ManagementConduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups.Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.Exercise extreme caution and good judgment in verbal and physical relationships with students.OtherDemonstrate a professional manner at all times when carrying out the duties designated.Exercise discretion and good judgment in personal grooming and attire.Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and liftingQualifications: GED/High School Diploma (Some college hours preferred)Ability to communication effectivelyPay: $80.00 per day
