Job Title: Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Locating Technician III

Job Description

The Subsurface Utility Engineering Field Technician III will be responsible for utility locating and site surveying. You will utilize state-of-the-art geophysical sensing equipment. This role includes nationwide periodic travel up to 3 weeks at a time (per diem provided during travel). This position offers training and mentorship, with opportunities for growth into other parts of the business, such as surveying and land development.

Responsibilities

+ Assist in identifying marked utilities, structures, and various control points on plans and in the field.

+ Assist in the implementation of approved traffic control plans.

+ Actively work toward obtaining the skills in the certification program required for advancement.

+ Efficiently employ assigned equipment to accurately record data of marked utilities, structures, and various control points in the field.

Essential Skills

+ 3+ years of utility marking and locating experience for Technician II.

+ Around 5 years of utility marking and locating experience for Technician III.

+ Proficiency with Ground Penetrating Radar.

+ Land surveying experience.

+ High School Diploma.

+ Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

+ Ability to walk for extended periods of time over irregular terrain.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Must be willing to travel up to 3 weeks at a time (per diem provided).

+ Flexibility to work Monday through Saturday and nights if needed.

Work Environment

This position is based in Gainesville, VA, with another position available in Richmond, VA. The workday starts at 5:45 AM at the office, where you will take a company vehicle to project sites. The target is to work 10-hour days, with a minimum of 40 hours a week, and often 50-60 hour weeks. Flexibility to work Monday through Saturday and nights if needed is required.
