Sugar Shack Manager-Maple Syrup Producer

In the pristine Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania

Pocono Mountain Maple is Pennsylvania's largest organic maple farm offering a variety of products and will be launching Maple Water this spring. This is the chance of a lifetime for the right candidate who is passionate about maple syrup production and wants to take on the challenge of launching maple water with us. The Sugar Shack Manager oversees the operation of our Sugar Shack and manages our 22-23k trees we tap on the mountain in January. This job will be very physically demanding but very rewarding to see your hard work come to life. The ideal candidate must be motivated to work hard and grow with the position. This includes leading the team to our highest maple syrup production numbers yet.

SALARY: $68,000 - $76,000 annually based on experience + opportunities for bonus pay (including bonus pay for total barrel count)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Production Oversight: Managing the production of maple syrup, ensuring the sap is collected from maple trees and processed efficiently during the sugaring season.
• Staff Management: Hiring, training, and supervising staff involved in sap collection, syrup production, food preparation, and customer service.
• Customer Service: Ensuring a pleasant experience for visitors, which may involve running maple tours, explaining the maple syrup process, and offering tastings or activities related to maple syrup production.
• Facility Maintenance: Overseeing the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of the facility, including maintaining equipment used in syrup production.
• Inventory & Supplies: Managing inventory of maple syrup and related products, as well as other supplies needed for the shack's operations, such as food ingredients and cooking equipment maintenance.
• Financial Management: Tracking expenses, setting prices for products and services, and ensuring profitability.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum 4 years of experience as Sugar Shack Manager or Maple Syrup Producer (preferred)

-Must be an active learner with good organizational and communication skills

-Skilled at overseeing and managing farm projects, planning & production with team input

-Experience in supervising and leading in a team environment

-Must be able to maintain equipment on a timely basis

-Experience with landscaping and caretaker responsibilities

-Must be able to help manage sugar shack budget

-Grounds keeping and property maintenance experience preferred

-Ability to lift 50lbs+

-Knowledge of Excel, Word, or Google Drive preferred

-Have a sense of humor and the ability to persevere

-Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation
