NRDC is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We use law, science, and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure the rights of all people to clean air, clean water, and healthy communities. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our people helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act and many of the implementing regulations. NRDC is seeking a Summer intern to work with the Land Conservation team associated with our Washington, D.C. office.

Position Summary

NRDCs Land Conservation team works to protect sensitive landscapes, endangered species habitat, communities, and natural resources. As part of the team, the Summer Intern will conduct research, attend meetings, analyze government policies, and compile data and other relevant information related to NRDCs advocacy objectives. The Summer Intern will work with the Land Conservation team on a range of issues to help NRDCs efforts to advocate for and defend policies that protect our nations communities and our rich natural heritage from industrial threats including fossil fuel development and other stressors. The intern will also help the team to advance solutions including renewable energy that support the institutions commitment to combat climate change.

Participate in the development of strategies to challenge policies to expand fossil fuels and other harmful industries such as mining and to support responsible renewable energy development on federal lands.

Conduct research necessary to support legislative and administrative advocacy campaigns to fight dirty energy and support responsible clean energy development.

Cover multiple projects over the summer to help different members of the team working on a range of issues.

  • Summer intern will have experience conducting research.
  • Summer intern will have excellent writing skills.
