Project Descriptions:
Position 1:
This position is in the Law Department, specifically within the Intellectual Property (IP) group. At least a portion of the student's time will be on-site in Tarrytown, NY. This student will work directly with attorneys managing Regeneron's IP focused on protecting platform technologies, and, specifically, will contribute to legal research informing patent strategies in the drug discovery and evaluation space.
Position 2:
This position is in the Intellectual Property (IP) Department at Regeneron in Tarrytown, New York. The student will be involved in a variety of tasks that are crucial to the functioning of the IP department. These tasks include:
1.Preparing Presentations: The student will assist in creating presentations that are used for internal and external meetings. This involves gathering relevant information, designing slides, and ensuring that the content is clear and impactful.
2.Analyzing Data: The student will help in analyzing various data sets related to patents, market trends, and competitive intelligence. This analysis is essential for making informed decisions regarding IP strategy and portfolio management.
3.Reviewing Contracts: The student will review contracts and agreements to ensure they align with Regeneron's IP policies and strategies. This task requires attention to detail and an understanding of legal terminology.
4.Conducting Patent Searches: The student will conduct patent searches to identify existing patents. This is a critical step in the process of filing new patents and ensuring that Regeneron's innovations are protected.
The tasks the student will be involved in are integral to the IP department's mission of protecting and managing Regeneron's intellectual property assets. By preparing presentations, analyzing data, reviewing contracts, and conducting patent searches, the student will gain a comprehensive understanding of the IP landscape and contribute to the department's strategic goals. This hands-on experience will provide the student with valuable insights into the workings of a leading biopharmaceutical company's IP department.
Necessary Technical Skills
Pursuing a JD degree, preference to students who will have completed their 1st year of law school.
Undergraduate and/or advanced degree in a STEM major preferred
Strong legal and analytical skills as well as solid biotechnology background
Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, various search engines
Interpersonal communication and ability to communicate with collaborators from a diverse background.
A general understanding of biology, particularly immunology may be beneficial.
Candidates with advanced technical degrees, introductory or advanced coursework in patent law or equivalent experience, and/or a basic understanding of computer science/artificial intelligence may be given special consideration.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must be enrolled in, or accepted to, an academic program pursuing a Law degree (and be returning to school the semester following the internship). A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is preferred. We want someone who is able to commit to 40 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks from the end of May/ June through the beginning of August. Demonstrated leadership in areas such as campus activities, clubs, sports, current or previous work, or the community is also preferred.
