Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition SummaryMt. Gilead Camp and Conference Center is looking for a female applicant to serve as seasonal Head Cook for its all-girls Christian Summer Camp program. Reporting to the Camp Director, you will further the mission of Mt. Gilead Summer Camp by preparing delicious and nutritious meals for our summer staff and campers. The Head Cook will also be responsible for the supervision of the summer kitchen crew.**About Mt. Gilead**Nestled in the heart of the Pennsylvania Poconos, Mt. Gilead has provided an exceptional Christian girls' summer camp program for more than 60 years. Campers play, learn, and grow while participating in archery, swimming, riflery, drama, horsemanship, and canoeing – to name just a few! In a warm and friendly atmosphere, staff focus on loving girls to Christ and helping them to develop a dynamic relationship with Him. Meals are served family-style, with praise and worship singing, campfires, fun camp traditions, off-the-wall silly songs, games, and activities all enhancing, the experiences of making new friends and enjoying Christian fellowship. Job SummaryWe are seeking a talented female Summer Camp Cook to join our all-girls summer camp team. In this role, you'll be responsible for creating innovative menus, preparing delicious meals, and overseeing all aspects of the kitchen. The ideal candidate is experienced, creative, and a strong leader. If you have a passion for cooking for large groups, we want to hear from you. Responsibilities:
  • Create innovative menus according to the seasonal availability of ingredients and customer expectations
  • Oversee kitchen operations
  • Supervise and coordinate all food preparation and presentation
  • Provide training and leadership for kitchen staff
  • Maintain appropriate levels of inventory and negotiate with vendors to get high-quality products at the best price
  • Follow all food safety rules and regulations (Serv Safe)
Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Previous culinary experience
  • ServeSafe or Food Handler's Certification OR Willingness To Be Certified
  • Advanced knowledge of culinary techniques and recipes
  • Ability to remain calm and thrive under pressure
  • Excellent management and leadership skills
