Job Description:
The TeamAHL's Fast Trading Strategies (FTS) team is responsible for the development of high Sharpe, high frequency trading strategies across all asset classes. The team has been running for over a decade, and currently manages a large and successful portfolio across both global futures and cash markets. The FTS team is responsible for the full end to end development of the fast alpha portfolio, using several techniques to capture fast alphas, ML, event driven, microstructure based etc, building its own customised monetisation stack, and optimising trading and order placement with dedicated high frequency infrastructure. This posting is specifically for candidates interested in joining the New York office, which houses Man AHL's newest business unit focused on high frequency alpha research, trading, and infrastructure. Who Should Apply?The team is currently hiring both undergraduate and graduate (Masters and PhD) students with strong academic achievement in highly technical degree programs who are interested in either a summer internship (expected to be between 10 - 12 weeks) or full-time role (further information on the available roles can be found below). Kindly note that our summer internships are open to penultimate year students and full-time roles are open to final year students (expecting to graduate and be available to commence work within one year of applying). Role DetailsThe FTS team's definitions of Machine Learning Engineering (MLE) and Quantitative Research (QR) are in line with industry standards, but due to the collaborative nature of the team and smaller personnel footprint in New York, the line delineating the roles may blur from time to time.
  • The MLE role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about software that is focused on machine learning applications such as MLOps and research workflows. Because MLEs are also expected to use their own software, the ideal candidate not only has experience coding in a variety of languages (especially Python) but also has knowledge of ML algorithms and research processes.
  • The QR role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about using high frequency tick data and machine learning algorithms to predict asset returns and converting those models into profitable trading strategies. QRs will work closely with MLOps in deploying models and therefore are required to be strong programmers in a variety of languages (especially Python). Previous ML or statistical research internship experience in finance, technology, or academia is strongly preferred.

Base Salary Range: The anticipated based salary range for the full-time position is $175,000 - $200,000 + benefits + a discretionary bonus.
