Job DescriptionGood Samaritan's Summer Student Nurse Intern Program (SNIP) is a full-time, eight-week paid internship for qualified nursing students to work alongside RN preceptors and members of the interdisciplinary team. SNIPs engage in hands-on learning throughout our Magnet® designated organization.Summer Student Nurse Interns (SNIPs) choose between an Emergency Department or Perinatal (OB) based track, which both incorporate Critical Care, Medical-Surgical, Behavioral Health, Inpatient Rehab, and a variety of other clinical healthcare settings. Our Summer Student Nurse Intern Program (SNIP) is designed for top nursing students who have the desire to be exemplary caregivers.Requirements for Summer 2025 (June 16 - August 8) Student Nurse Intern Program (SNIP)•Enrolled in an accredited nursing program (bachelor's or associate degree program) with an expected graduation date of Dec 2025, Spring 2026, or Summer 2026.•Verified academic standing by submission of unofficial school transcript, minimum GPA of 3.2.•Have a strong desire and intent to join the Good Samaritan nursing workforce post-graduation.•Be able to work 36-40 hours (8-hour to 12-hour shifts) a week for the duration of the 8-week internship, including at least one week of night shift.•Attend all days of required orientation. An orientation is scheduled during the week of the start of the program for those new to Good Samaritan, if unable to attend a prior orientation offering.•Selected applicants will have the opportunity to transition into the year-round Student Nurse Extern program, as well as be considered for the Good Samaritan Foundation Nursing Scholarship ($10,000 granted to assist with successful completion of nursing curriculum, paid NCLEX Review, and NCLEX exam fee).The following information must be submitted to ...@gshvin.org via email, along with your application, by February 28th, 2025, to be considered for this internship:•Unofficial school transcript•Resume•Two letters of recommendation from nursing school faculty members•Personal statement (essay 250-500 words): Why did you choose nursing as a profession? Increase clinical competence and judgement by observing care in various clinical areas2. Provide direct patient care and perform clinical nursing skills under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.3. Refine communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team4. Enhance skills in the areas of critical thinking, decision-making, delegation, prioritization, organization, and teamwork5. Develop professional relationships with staff6. Demonstrate increased professional accountability7. Assume responsibility to seek out learning experiences8. Explore, as a pre-professional, the scope of professional nursing practice9. Engage in professional conversations on a variety of topics during weekly Lunch & Learns10. Selected applicants will participate in a Summer Showcase at the conclusion of the program.Compensation:This is a temporary position. Selected participants are paid a competitive hourly wage and must be able to work a 36 to 40-hour work week.
