Job Title: Superintendent Salary: $125,000 - $145,000Reports to: Board of Education Pay Grade: CertifiedDept./School: Administration Date Revised: July 2021Primary Purpose:As chief executive officer of the Blytheville Public Schools, the Superintendent will work with the Blytheville Board of Education, the faculty and staff, and the community to ensure a high quality education for the students of the district. The Superintendent is the administrative head of all divisions and departments and oversees all fiscal responsibilities of the district. He or she may delegate supervisory powers to other administrators, but the Superintendent will be responsible to the Board for all operations of the district. The Superintendent will assist in developing, implementing, and communicating the district's vision, mission and strategic plan to internal and external stakeholders.Qualifications:Education/Certification (must complete a graduate degree program in Educational Leadership from a NCATE- accredited Arkansas college or university and hold one of the following degrees):
  • Doctorate Preferred
  • Master's degree in educational administration and/or
  • Master's degree in Education and/or
  • Master's degree in a content/endorsement area
Experience:
  • Prior experience as Superintendent preferred; experience in Central Office Administration will be considered
  • Salary negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications
Major Responsibilities and Duties:Functions
  • Keep the school district in compliance with federal, state and local laws, as well as all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Implement and monitor the observance of all School Board policies regarding instruction, finance, facilities, transportation, personnel, and all other functions of the district.
  • Communicate openly and regularly with the School Board, reporting both progress and concerns in any segment of the district.
  • Visibly represent the district in a professional and appropriate manner, embracing the public relations and marketing functions of his or her office. Implement an ongoing, written public relations plan. Communicate frequently with the community and other constituents about matters important to the welfare of the district and its students. Practice internal public relations by supporting and celebrating district personnel.
  • Demonstrate fiscal responsibility, including but not limited to the preparation of an annual school district budget in compliance with Board policy and protocol, and maintain oversight of the budget observing legal requirements and the policies of the Board.
  • Recommend new policies and revisions of existing policies to the School Board.
  • In accordance with Board policy, ensure that evaluations of all district employees are completed in an ongoing and timely manner.
  • Set priorities, goals, and outcomes in collaboration with the Board, subject to an ongoing 360 evaluation process.
  • Share with the Board the results of all search committee recommendations, certified and classified.
  • Cultivate partnerships with officials from other educational agencies to enhance educational opportunities for Blytheville Public Schools students and promote educational excellence.
  • Observe a professional code of ethics and show personal integrity.
  • Assume all other duties as designated by the Board of Education.
