Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience as a superintendent or similar role in healthcare and/or industrial construction
- Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification, CPR/First Aid, and other relevant industry certifications (e.g., LEED, CHC Certified Healthcare Constructor, etc.)
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Knowledge of construction scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project)
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare-specific standards (e.g., infection control, NFPA, ASHE guidelines) and industrial codes
Responsibilities
- Oversee all daily field operations to ensure the timely completion of the project
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities of site workers and subcontractors
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor compliance with project plans, safety standards, and quality control
- Enforce job site safety procedures and ensure all team members comply with OSHA and company safety policies
- Conduct daily and weekly safety meetings
- Investigate and report any on-site accidents or safety incidents, implementing corrective actions
- Scheduling & Coordination:
- Develop and maintain construction schedules in coordination with the project manager
- Ensure proper sequencing of construction phases and activities to maximize efficiency and minimize delays
- Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure the timely delivery of materials and services
- Monitor and enforce high standards of quality control on all construction activities
- Ensure that all construction work complies with design specifications, drawings, and healthcare/industrial regulations
- Perform inspections and testing as required, collaborating with inspectors and clients
- Lead and direct on-site labor, subcontractors, and field staff
- Resolve conflicts or issues among staff, subcontractors, and other stakeholders promptly and professionally
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment
- Client and Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the main point of contact for all field-related matters with clients, inspectors, and other stakeholders
- Attend and participate in progress meetings, providing updates on construction progress, safety issues, and scheduling
- Provide regular reports to the project manager regarding progress, challenges, and upcoming milestones
- Budget and Cost Control:
- Assist in controlling project costs by managing labor, materials, and equipment efficiently
- Identify and resolve potential budget overruns or delays, proposing corrective measures when necessary
- Ensure accurate timekeeping and reporting of on-site labor and materials
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with healthcare and industrial construction codes, standards, and regulations
- Keep up-to-date with evolving laws and standards for healthcare facilities (e.g., infection control, cleanroom requirements, etc.) and industrial sites (e.g., hazardous materials handling, environmental compliance)
- Ability to work on active job sites with regular exposure to potentially hazardous environments
- Must be able to stand, walk, and manage construction sites for extended periods
- Occasional travel may be required depending on the project location
