If you're ready to lead by example, bring your skills to a collaborative environment, and make a meaningful impact, we want to hear from you!SummaryThe Superintendent of Facility Maintenance is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing facility maintenance. Supervise full-time and seasonal staff, responsible for maintenance, repairs, and improvements to Park District properties. This position is responsible for the maintenance of Barefoot Bay Aquatic Park, Indoor Pool, Spray Park, two recreation centers, and five other buildings.Qualifications - Education, Experience and TrainingA bachelor's or associate degree in a related field is preferred. A high school diploma or GED is required. A minimum of five years supervisory experience in building management and personnel management. Certified Pool Operator licensing required. Must have at least three years' work experience in the following areas: HVAC, Refrigeration, Electrical, Plumbing, Pool Maintenance and Carpentry or related trades. Must possess moderate computer skills, including operation of work-related programs, data entry, and operation of the Microsoft 365 platform. CPR, First Aid and AED Certification required within 90 days of employment. A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required. A Class A or B CDL is preferred.Essential Functions
  • Plan, organize and supervise maintenance and repairs performed by facility and custodial staff.
  • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly work schedules based on the Park District's standards of care and long-range plan.
  • Responsible for the purchasing of materials, equipment, and general services.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise work with outside contractors.
  • Prepare and administer the annual maintenance budget for facilities.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, train, and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Review employee work hours to verify accuracy and approve payroll.
  • Responsible for facility quality control.
  • Inspect facilities and work areas to eliminate deficiencies and improve Park facilities.
  • Assists in hiring, training, and evaluating park employees.
  • Coordinates HazCom Standard compliance activities.
  • Coordinate fire and alarm system inspections and repairs.
  • Manage public servants.
  • Respond to after hour phone calls and emails.
  • Manage the maintenance of all aquatic facilities including; Barefoot Bay, Indoor Pool, Spray Park, and the Beach.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
