About Provincetown SchoolsProvincetown Schools is very proud of our accreditation as an International Baccalaureate School. A small rural school with a diverse student population of approximately 160 students ranging from our infant toddler program that serves children from age 3 months to 3 years, through 8th grade. We are consistently supported by an active town community steeped in culture, tradition, and history. The School Committee is looking for a full-time superintendent who will maintain our IB accreditation and, with a strong emphasis on project-based learning, help our students and staff achieve academic excellence. The Superintendent must have a hands-on approach to administrative duties. For learning to be measured accurately, the assessment must be authentic and meaningful.Superintendent Job DescriptionREPORTS TO: The School Committee with regular written and verbal communication including and not limited to data-based reporting.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Master's degree in education; advanced degree preferred• Massachusetts licensure as Superintendent• 10 years of experience in public education, including administrative and classroom experience in primary and/or middle years schools• International Baccalaureate (IB) experience strongly preferred and commitment to it required. Depending on the Superintendent, they may be contractually obligated to go through IB training within the first year on the job and will be required to continue IB professional development• Proficient budget development and reporting skills• Excellent communication and managerial skillsESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The School Superintendent directs and manages the school district. They oversee all aspects of the district's operational policies, objectives, and initiatives, and are responsible for the attainment of short and long term financial and operational goals for the school system. The Superintendent creates strategies and specific objectives and develops budget, policies, and procedures to support the schools.Implement policies established by the School Committee. These may include: Personnel Policies from the Collective Bargaining Agreements and other sourcesBudget and fiscal policies originating with the district budgetPrepare and propose for the School Committee an annual operational budget, participate in the town meetings regarding school business, and oversee the monitoring of the budget during the year.Establish relationships with the municipal government.Establish relationships with critical commercial, civic, economic and academic organizations.Recognize and maintain established relationships with long term community partners.Develop a systematic plan to provide continuous school improvement and increased student achievement.Coordinate the work of the school committee and school improvement committees.Ensure compliance with regulations and law established at the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in the legislature.Establish relationships with parents and local stakeholders.Represent the school committee and, when authorized, act as the agent of the school committee.Oversee the Early Learning Center.Oversee the functions that may include: Curriculum and instructionBudget and fiscal policySpecial EducationOperationsCapital management and building oversightManagement of the Fisherman's Hall including rental contractsCollective bargainingWriting Grants and Management of GrantsUnderstand, support, and commit to the International Baccalaureate philosophy.Collaborate with and focus on all stakeholders. Embody a district culture that: Prioritizes the support for schools and contributions of school-based educators in the education of students.Recognizes the contributions of and seeks input from all district staff.Establishes, aligns and sustains partnerships and cultivates relationships with the business community, governmental officials, community leadership, and DESE.Values equity, integrity, and transparency and promotes safety and security.Takes responsibility and is accountable for decisions and actions and supports strong site-based shared leadership.Adheres to the guidance and direction of the Board of Education.SALARY: Negotiable#J-18808-Ljbffr
