Competitive Qualifications: You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 56.2, 70.1 and or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law. Transfer: For 52.6, 70.1, or 70.4 transfer to a Supervising Computer Operator, salary grade (SG)-18, you must have one year of permanent competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title for transfer allocated to an SG-16 or above. Appointments via transfer must not result in second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade. To determine if your current Civil Service title is eligible for transfer to this title, visit the Career Mobility GOT-IT website: Duties Description •Monitor jobs in the print queues and ensure they are released according to schedule, are in the proper format, and meet the quality standards established in the Forms Alignment Manual. •Ensure print output is logged, packed, and distributed accurately and on time. •Ensure check reconciliation paperwork is completed and perform follow up action if there are pending issues. •Monitor, operate, and perform daily maintenance on hardware. •Oversee required shift activities for the tape library, console server, and print rooms. •Ensure tape mount requests and configuration requirements are satisfied promptly, console and printer daily task list are completed, and production batch schedules are triggered following the instructions provided by Scheduling Services. •Identify hardware, software, and environmental issues, reporting to the appropriate stakeholders. •Create procedures in enterprise batch scheduling software according to instructions provided by technical staff. •Ensure proper execution of batch schedules. •Monitor enterprise batch schedule progress and report issues to the appropriate technical teams for resolution. •Review daily batch processing schedules and instructions with Operations staff to ensure successfully execution. •Migrate programs and files into production libraries. •Update shift turnover reports with key information relaying the status of batch schedules, job requests, and notice of issues encountered or items requiring follow up. •Review shift, turnover, and incident reports and discuss the status with staff of previous shift. •Analyze job failures and take appropriate action to communicate and resolve the issue, following run book documentation or additional business user instructions provided. •Document job failures and resolutions and notify appropriate staff. •Monitor and ensure that predetermined goals/objectives are met; since goals and objectives can change at any time, expectations must be communicated routinely. •Identify daily priorities and assign work accordingly. •Oversee staff training and development programs. •Meet regularly with staff to provide information about employment expectations, policies, and programs. •Model appropriate behavior and set a good example for others through statements and actions. •Perform full range of supervisory responsibilities including, but not limited to, development and completion of performance evaluations, review timesheets, and review and approve telecommuting journals. •Participate in the recruitment and hiring of new staff. Additional Comments Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: •Demonstrated experience in IBM Operational Support - Supporting mainframe computer operations, console functions and activities, and functions associated with IBM-HMC consoles. •Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. •Demonstrated strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and organizational skills. •Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. •Ability to interact with technical and business staff. •Demonstrated strong leadership skills. •Exhibits positive attitude.
