About the Position :Under the direction of the Public Health Director, this position plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of Public Health programs and services. They provide supervision of subordinate staff and operate under nursing protocols and medical direction from the Health Officer. Examples of Duties Required Knowledge of:
  • Principles, methods and procedures of nursing as applied in public health practice, preventive medicine and sanitation;
  • Community aspects of nursing programs;
  • Prevention and/or early detection of communicable diseases, chronic diseases, handicapping conditions, mental illnesses and other disabling conditions;
  • Fiscal management principals
Ability to:
  • Assist with the planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of Public Health Division services and programs; perform duties in direct support of the Public Health Director.
  • Participates in the provision of adequate staff training and orientation; ensure subordinates' adherence to all applicable policies, regulations and safety protocol.

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience in a public or community health setting. One (1) year of supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
License & Special Requirements:
  • Requires a valid California driver's license.
  • Requires a valid license to practice as a registered nurse and a valid public health nursing certificate issued by the State of California.
  • Must complete periodic continuing education coursework as required to maintain active licensure.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a national provider identifier (NPI).
Recruitment Information The department is currently recruiting for one (1) vacancy. In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill current vacancies for a Licensed Clinical Nurse Supervisor or Supervising Public Health Nurse (see separate recruitment), as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.Testing Dates: 11/19/2024 - 11/22/2024. Testing will be provided via email.Tentative Interview Dates:1st & 2nd Combo: Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
