In this role, you would serve as the Senior Attorney-Advisor all General Law issues; providing legal advice, representation, and assistance in the areas of government contract law, environmental law, labor law, ethics, information law, general administration, and fiscal law. Additionally, the incumbent would serve as a first level supervisor providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over non-supervisory employees assigned to the General Law Division of the Wing's Judge Advocate Office.This is full-time federal position that offers a rewarding and exciting career with exceptional pay and benefits! On-line information is allowed as long as it shows that you are in active status.- At least three years of professional legal experience that are commensurate with the position's duties and responsibilities are required.- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.- Temporary duty travel is required, and overtime may be required.- Incumbent is required to file an OGE 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually in accordance with Joint Ethics Regulation.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- As the Chief, General Law Division; represents the Staff Judge Advocate (SJA) as procurement legal advisor and the advisor to the 11th Wing Commander, as well as subordinate and tenant unit commanders, staff personnel, contracting officials, and managers, on a host of general law matters.- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Develops goals and objectives that integrate 11 WG/JA, General Law Division, and Pentagon Legal Assistance Office objectives.- Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relations with Installation and/or Wing Commanders, Directors, and highest level of function responsibility. Represents the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.- Supervises U.S. Magistrate Court services. Supervises the prosecution of civilians and dependents for criminal offenses occurring on Joint Base Andrews, Maryland before the U.S. Magistrate Court and U.S. District Court.- Provides advice on Standards of Conduct/Ethics Programs. Acts as primary legal advisor and provider of ethics opinions for the Air Force personnel serving at 11th Wing.- Performs a wide variety of miscellaneous attorney duties. Prepares legal reviews of Inspector General (IG) investigations, Congressional inquiries, and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act requests. Provides support for host-tenant agreements, and other investigations and inquiries where appropriate.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILIITES (KSA's)- Knowledge of applicable law pertaining to the specialized areas of legal practice, as determined by the SJA, in order to provide legal advice and counsel to command and management and represent AF interests.- Sufficient knowledge of federal, state, and local law, as it impacts the private individual, to provide personal legal assistance to eligible beneficiaries across the typical range of the AF legal assistance practice.- Skill in recognizing and analyzing key legal issues in a factual situation and applying well-reasoned analysis to reach clear, concise conclusions.- Ability to research legal issues, analyze complex factual situations in light of general legal principles and the results of research, and prepare legal opinions.- Ability to prepare cases for trial and/or try cases before a court, administrative body, or an official having Quasi judicial power.
