Job SummaryThe Supervisor CT/MRI oversees the performance of responsibilities involved in CT/MRI scans. The Supervisor is responsible for safety, patient care, scheduling, quality management, inventory control, equipment, and those who work in the area. Ensures all scans and related work adheres to NYS DOH (New York State Department of Health) and ACR (American College of Radiology) standards.
Core Job Responsibilities- Coordinates, assigns and organizes the patient flow throughout the area, prioritizing and shifting workloads for efficient patient testing. Identifies and corrects productivity obstacles.
- Supervises the daily activities of the assigned technologists. Leads, guides and motivates staff. Promotes effective teamwork throughout the department and assists staff through ongoing changes.
- Ensures quality diagnostic exams are performed in accordance with defined protocols. Monitors image quality. Documents provider complaints and follows up to resolution.
- Handles department staffing, scheduling, vacation requests and call outs.
- Serves as a resource and role model for staff. Promotes a high level customer service to patients and other departments.
- Follows up on patient incidents or complaints promptly, and completes appropriate documentation.
- Ensures rooms and work areas are cleaned and restocked with adequate supplies.
- Updates policies within supervised modality and communicates with staff. Researches, develops and implements new protocols and procedures.
- Actively participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
- Ensures all processes and activities comply with regulatory and organizational standards and requirements.
- Monitors and troubleshoots equipment or procedure problems. Follows up with service calls appropriately.
- Keeps department leadership updated of any concerns, issues or problems and progress towards goals.
- Responsible for training and orienting staff and new hires on technical procedures and documenting competency. Ensures staff have the resources, tools and training to fulfill their duties.
- With the Manager and Human Resources guidance, provides input to or makes recommendations on employee hires, performance reviews, transfers, promotions, salary changes, disciplinary actions, terminations and similar actions. Resolves grievances and other staff problems in a fair, timely and consistent manner also in conjunction with HR.
- Keeps current in best practices in CT/MRI Scanning.
- Travels to other work sites as needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience RequirementsREQUIRED:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- NYS Radiologic Technologist license from DOH.
- Bachelors degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least one year of experience as a CT Technologist.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, e.g., maturity, job knowledge, professionalism, communication skills, etc. to lead, guide and motivate others.
PREFERRED:
- Associates or Bachelors Degree.
- Previous supervisory experience in a clinical setting.
Licensure/Certification RequirementsREQUIRED:
- NYS Radiologic Technologist license from DOH.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Computed Tomography Certification.
- NYS/ARRT injection certification.
PREFERRED:
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) MRI Certification.
