Job DescriptionJob Summary:The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the implementation, compliance, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs within the organization. This role requires a proactive approach to identify potential hazards, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a culture of safety among employees.Key Responsibilities:
Program Development and Management: Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure effective communication of EHS policies to all employees. Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations, standards, and best practices. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify compliance gaps and ensure corrective actions are taken. Training and Awareness: Design and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels, ensuring understanding and compliance with safety protocols. Promote a culture of safety through awareness campaigns and engagement initiatives. Incident Management: Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions. Maintain records of incidents and ensure proper documentation and reporting to regulatory bodies. Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation strategies. Work with management to prioritize safety improvements and allocate resources effectively. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans and drills to prepare employees for potential emergency situations. Coordinate with local emergency services and ensure compliance with emergency response regulations. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze safety data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. Prepare and present EHS reports to management, highlighting key metrics and areas for improvement. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a safe and healthy work environment. Act as a point of contact for EHS-related inquiries and provide guidance to employees and management. Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in EHS management or a similar role.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations and standards.
- General Industry/Fire/Risk/Environmental Certifications (e.g., Accident Investigation, CSHO, SHEP, SSH, REM, REP) are a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to conduct site inspections and audits, which requires lifting and moving equipment and materials.
- Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings.
Work Environment:
- Work is set in a manufacturing environment and involves exposure to hazardous materials; appropriate safety precautions will be provided.
Work Hours:
- The standard 40-hour work week is the goal with this role. However, this role is needed to work beyond these hours, especially if there are safety incidents, inspections, or training sessions that require attention. In our industry, this role is expected to be available during shift changes and weekends to ensure compliance, as needed, with safety regulations. Flexibility is key in this role.
