Job Type Full-time Description Job Title: EHS & Waste SupervisorDepartment:Reports to: VP of Operations Job Summary: The EHS & Waste Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs, with a focus on pharmaceutical waste management and compliance with regulations such as EPA, DOT, OSHA and hazardous waste standards. This position has supervisory responsibility for the staff that manages the disposition and destruction of pharmaceutical waste. The EHS & Waste Supervisor will develop, implement, and monitor safety programs, ensure environmental compliance, and deliver training programs related to health, safety, and waste management. This position reports directly to the VP of Operations and works closely with the HR Director. Key Responsibilities:

  • EHS Program Development & Compliance: Develop and implement environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including EPA, DOT, OSHA and pharmaceutical waste management guidelines.
  • Training & Development: Work with HR to design and conduct employee training programs on safety procedures, waste management, and environmental health.
  • Supervision: Directly supervise a Senior Environmental Waste Specialist and a team of 3-4 Material Handlers. Provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership to ensure safe handling and sorting of pharmaceutical waste.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Manage the procurement, distribution, and inspection of PPE and other safety-related equipment. Ensure that all employees use PPE correctly and consistently.
  • Facility Inspections & Hazard Monitoring: Coordinate regular inspections of facilities, vehicles, and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Monitor known hazards, including noise, air quality, and potential exposure to pollutants.
  • Incident Reporting & Documentation: Investigate and document accidents, incidents, and near misses. Ensure timely submission of reports and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Work with HR to coordinate documentation, worker's compensation data and OSHA reporting requirements.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Develop, communicate, and update facility-specific emergency response and evacuation plans. Conduct regular drills and reviews to ensure preparedness.
  • Waste Management: Oversee pharmaceutical waste collection, sorting, storage, transportation, and destruction ensuring full compliance with EPA Subpart P and DOT regulations.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other departments and external regulatory agencies to ensure consistent EHS practices across the organization. Communicate effectively with internal teams to promote safety culture. Coordinate and guide the Safety Committee in support of company goals and safety metrics, as well as being a trusted partner in Safety.

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
  • 3-4 years of experience in EHS, with specific experience/knowledge in pharmaceutical waste management and EPA/DOT compliance.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as HAZWOPER, RCRA, or DOT preferred.
