Position Description:
The Fiber Splicer Supervisor will oversee a team of OSP Fiber Splicers responsible for the successful execution of splicing activities across multiple markets & projects simultaneously. This role involves establishing best practices and developing standard operating procedures that support efficient use of resources while ensuring quality and safety. The ideal candidate will have substantial technical experience in OSP fiber design, splicing and testing practices; in addition, to excellent leadership and organizational skills to develop a high performing team that is comprised of both in-house and third-party resources. Responsibilities will also include splicing design, ability to prepare and read splicing plans, perform the splicing activity, termination and testing of fiber optic plant. Duties and Responsibilities:
Achieve Lyte Fibers annual construction goals for passings built on time and on budget.
Recruit and hire a team of splicers across markets
Lead and manage splicing crews, assign tasks, and conduct on-site training to maintain high skill levels within the team.
Supervise, coordinate, and monitor the activities of both in-house and third-party fiber splicing resources.
Read and follow OSP Engineering designs, instructions and specifications to support the scope of the project.
Maintain accurate records of splicing work, test results, and incident reports, and submit regular progress reports to your management and the project management team.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project timelines and deliverables
Ensure all OSP activities comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
Implement quality control measures to maintain the highest standards of network reliability and performance.
Enforce and monitor safety protocols and resolve safety incidents promptly to promote a culture of safety within the team and across the company.
Strong understanding of fiber optic technology, splicing methods, and equipment such as fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters and other testing tools.
Ensure light levels are met per the specifications of the design and technology.
Ensure the availability, functionality, and maintenance of all splicing equipment, tools, and materials required for project execution.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or associate degree in telecommunications or related field preferred.
3-5 years of OSP fiber splicing experience.
2 or more years of supervisory field experience leading OSP Fiber Splicing teams
In-depth understanding of OSP fiber design and splicing construction practices, materials, and equipment.
Understand FTTH design using XGSPON, GPON, AE, OLT and ONT technologies.
Strong computer skills, with emphasis using Microsoft Outlook and Excel
Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and technical specifications.
Knowledge of fiber optic cable splicing techniques including but not limited to single-fusion, mass-fusion (ribbon) and mechanical methods.
Knowledge of fiber optic testing, including but not limited to power meter, VFL, and OTDR.
Knowledge of various manufacturers OSP and ISP splice enclosures and termination panels
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, parallel projects
Excellent oral & written communication skills
Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Ability to carry and use tools and equipment
Requisite ability to drive motor vehicle
Adequate ability to distinguish different colors of fiber
Ability to frequently bend, stoop and crawl
Ability to lift and carry 28ft extension ladder
Occasionally sit and climb ladders/stairs; perform fine motor and pinching movements, & pivots with feet and bends, twists and laterally flexes back & reaches at overhead shoulder, knee, and floor levels, stoops, squats, crouches, kneels and crawls and press foot pedals.
Frequently stands and walks & pushes/pulls with arms and grasps with hands & reaches at waist
Ability to climb ladders and/or utility poles and work in high places
Ability to work in small spaces, tolerate typical residential and commercial controlled work environments as well as uncontrolled weather-related heat and cold for extended periods of time
Ability to work outdoors and in extreme weather conditions and varying topographic, wet and dry locations
May require working outside regular business hours to address urgent service delivery issues
