Job Profile SummaryUnder limited supervision, the purpose of this job is to supervise the performance of ground maintenance functions in a safe, productive and time efficient manner. Supervision includes delegating work to in house staff and contract service vendors at main campus locations, and satellite locations. Performs related duties as assigned.Minimum Education:
  • Associate's degree required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for some positions
Minimum Experience/Training:
  • Three years general business or functional experience within the field, with three years supervisory or lead experience
Minimum Certification/Licenses:
  • Master Gardner Certification, Pesticide application certification, Landscape maintenance certification strongly preferred.
  • Driver's license required
Essential Functions:
  • Daily - 20%: Supervises work crews and the safe and productive use of equipment utilized in grounds/landscape/irrigation maintenance and associated repair work.
  • Daily - 5%: Interprets job assignments to staff under charge and assigns duties to crews of varying sizes and skills.
  • Daily - 5%: Responsible for people management of the area, including recommendation of staffing, hiring, termination and discipline, setting performance standards and evaluating staff, and staff development. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet schedules.
  • Other - 5%: Works with college design and construction team, College-wide Landscape Manager in plan review of all landscape and irrigation systems design projects.
  • Other - 5%: Works with academic departments, student clubs, sustainability committees on initiatives that support student success, and college green initiatives such as Earth Day, Science Departments, student garden projects, college sustainability goals
  • Daily - 10%: Requisitions materials and supplies for projects and coordinates the efficient use of workers, resources and equipment.
  • Daily - 10%: Independently plans and coordinates ground/landscape/irrigation maintenance projects; analyzes and resolves work problems, and assists workers in solving problems.
  • Daily - 10%: Works with college design and construction team, College-wide Landscape Manager in plan review of all landscape and irrigation systems design projects.
  • Daily - 10%: Ensures proper safety training of staff in chemical application and usage procedures, equipment operation, as well as records maintenance to comply with applicable regulatory standards.
  • Daily - 5%: Trains and directs subordinates in the use, care and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Daily - 10%: Leads and directs work of the subordinates, including selection, development and performance evaluation.
  • Other -5 %: Performs related duties as assigned
