The Production Supervisor oversees the production of parts that adhere to the company's quality standards while ensuring standard cycle times and compliance with established molding processes. This role involves conducting Level III QA audits, implementing color and material changes, and managing mold insert and hot stamp changes according to the schedule. The supervisor will also lead a small team of assemblers in the production area, ensuring accurate assembly of parts and adherence to plant safety and quality policies.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Technical Responsibilities:
- Ensure standard cycle times are met for all products; communicate any deviations to the Production Manager.
- Troubleshoot both common and complex molding and automation issues, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Conduct changeovers, including mold inserts and hot stamp setups, from installation to startup.
- Accurately read, review, and complete documentation for material identification, special production requirements, hot stamp types, foil selection, and instruction tags and labels.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Production Manager for timely repairs.
- Execute color and material changes safely, efficiently, and in a clean manner.
- Program color blenders by inputting shot weight and concentrate let down ratios to achieve the correct color for molded parts.
- Carry out scheduled color changes to ensure consistent product color while minimizing production overruns and waste.
- Clean metal separators and magnets, and properly dispose of any contaminated materials.
- Inform the Production Manager of any unusual findings.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and coaching to employees regarding company culture, policies, procedures, and compliance with plant safety and quality standards.
- Ensure all production employees adhere to safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct Level III QA audits and monitor quality objectives.
- Document reasons for downtime and product rejections using IQMS.
- Print work orders and conduct first article inspections.
- Collaborate with production and support department managers to achieve operational goals.
Qualifications:
- At least two (2) years of experience in an injection molding environment.
- A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience managing production employees.
- Experience with automation is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Self-starter with a high level of initiative, able to work independently.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with changing demands.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems (IQMS preferred).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
