SUPRVSR - SUPERVISOR, MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION- 0050SUMMARYPlans, organizes, supervises and participates in the operation of the Medical Transportation program answering incoming and outgoing calls, determining eligibility of consumers, schedules and bills for transportation services. Assists in training and evaluatingstaff.JOB DUTIESDepartment (unit) based competencies and/or training are current Primary source licensure verification is up to date.Job specific certifications are up to date.Job Description has been reviewed with the employee.Annual Mandatory Con Ed has been completed within the last 12 months.Meadville Medical Center's Mission Statement, Standards, and Key Service Behaviors have been reviewed with the Employee.Attendance is within policy guidelines.Complies with all MMC and departmental policies and procedures regarding safety and infection control. Able to follow the hospital policy in reporting a Code Red and initiates appropriate actions. Can locate the Disaster manual in the department and is knowledgeable about the implications of the various codes to department operations. Uses effective hand washing techniques as a measure of infection control and adheres to the other general principles of infection control that are specific to the department (i.e. cleaning of equipment). Appropriately handles hazardous chemicals in the department utilizing the labels, MSDS, and personal protective equipment. Is aware of the security policies and procedures. Wears proper MMC identification. Practices proper body mechanics; lifting and moving.Communicates effectively with supervisor, other managers and other departmental personnel. Provides information promptly and accurately. Consults with and advises appropriate personnel of situations requiring attention. Seeks guidance and direction for successful performance of duties when necessary. Adheres to MMC communication policies including the use of cell phones, internet, telephone, and e-mails.Respects confidentiality of the individual, whether patient or staff member, while acknowledging the right to be provided certain information in a timely manner subject to certain statutory rights. SPECIFIC JOB DEMANDSStrength: Sedentary Work - Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling 10 Lbs. occasionally. Mostly sitting, may involve standing or walking for brief periods of time.Reaching: Occasionally - Extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.Handling: Occasionally - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand.Fingering: Occasionally - Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.Talking: Frequently - Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.Hearing: Frequently - Perceiving the nature of sounds by ear.Near Acuity: Frequently - Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.Accommodation: Occasionally - Adjustment of lens of eye to bring an object into sharp focus. This factor is required when doing near point work at varying distances from the eye.Color Vision: Frequently - Ability to identify and distinguish colors.MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREDHigh school diploma or equivalent.Experience in dealing with the public and being sensitive to the needs of others.WORKING CONDITIONSGenerally, works in a well-lit, clean, temperature regulated environment.
