Job Summary and Qualifications

The Supervisor of Laboratory supervises and directs the work activities of one or more departments of the Clinical Laboratory. The incumbent schedules work assignments, maintains equipment and supplies inventory, trains and orients new personnel, evaluates and recommends new instrumentation, and assures that procedures and policies are followed as outlined in the Personnel Handbook, CHC Manual, and Lab Policy & Procedure Manuals.

• You will assume responsibility for standardization of procedures and implementation of policies and will maintain and update departmental policy and procedure manuals according to current NCCLS standards.
• You will communicate new tests, changes and other appropriate information to staff.
• You will counsel and recommend disciplinary action when needed, and prepares and administers performance evaluations.
• You will evaluate new equipment for accuracy, precision, cost effectiveness, and suitability to our current and future need and, based on these findings, you will make recommendations for new instrumentation to the Administrative Director.
• You may perform all of the duties of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist, with an understanding of both the theoretical and technical aspects of those procedures under his/her supervision.

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelors Degree
• Must be licensed by the State of California as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist
• Knowledge of State and Federal regulations as well as JCAHO and CAP requirements.
