JOB SUMMARY Works under general supervision to the Patient Transport Manager to facilitate day to day operations and employee experience. Knowledge of patient safety, basic transportation equipment, infection control processes, clerical skills, excellent telephone etiquette, and good communication and organizational skills.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required- Education
High School Diploma or GED
- Experience
2 years of supervisory experience and 2 years of experience with patient transportation, equipment maintenance or other patient care related activities
- Licenses and Certifications
(BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire
JOB DUTIES - Maintains friendly, efficient service attitude towards patients all staff, colleagues and patients. Builds solid working relationships with all Patient Transporters and must be able to provide support and remove obstacles for Patient Transporters at all times.
- On site supervision of day to day operations of the Patient Transport department functions. Directly supervises Patient Transporter and Lead Patient Transporters.
- Conducts performance evaluations and ensures that all employees have the skills and training needed to perform their job. Makes recommendations to improve scores from Glint Survey.
- Assists Patient Transport Manager and other departments to ensure successful business operations and problem solve to mitigate issues.
- Assists with providing transportation of patients and items to various areas of the institution as determined by the number of pending requests.
- Must be able to work as a Transporter on the floor if needed and on high volume periods.
- Provides direction, development and guidance to Patient Transporters.
- Maintains pro-active approach with addressing or implementing changes impacting the various processes within the transport area.
- Greets patients and family members professionally and identifies oneself. Verifies patient identification, using two methods (patient name and patient date of birth). Maintains patient/family confidentiality in accordance with University and departmental policy (HIPPA).
- Sustains PACT cards and Rewards Program to create a healthy work environment for staff.
- Maintains proper cleanliness of equipment and reports equipment-needing repairs.
- Motivate and nurture team while rounding and providing transport support as needed.
- Seeks to understand the needs of the internal and external customers; meeting and exceeding those needs. Services as a liaison between patients, their families, friends and our medical staff. Performs other duties as required to provide fast and friendly genuine hospitality. Gives personal attention, takes personal responsibility and uses teamwork when providing services and addressing staff issues.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Participates in Monthly Meetings and/or educational activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
