JTEKT Automotive, PIEDMONT, South Carolina, United States of AmericaJob DescriptionPosted Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 5:00 AMManufacturing Supervisor (3rd Shift)Summary/PurposeAccomplish manufacturing results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results through coaching, counseling, and disciplining associates; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.Essential Duties and Accountabilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily.Provide leadership to manufacturing department consisting of team leaders and technicians.Support an annual operating plan for department to support company operating planning cycle.Support capital and expense budget requirements.Be accountable to operating plan and financial commitments.Lead improvement activities for quality, delivery, cost, and safety objectives.Identify training and development needs for department team members.Support continuous improvement through Kaizen and leading positive change.Support company policy and administer fairly and consistently.Facilitate good communications with Team Leaders and team members for establishing expectations and problem resolution.Maintain efficiency through lean manufacturing principles, human resource planning, and flexibility.Other duties as assigned by management.Supervisory Responsibilities:This position supervises JTEKT associates.Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Supervisory knowledge in a manufacturing environment.General understanding of highly sophisticated equipment and software.General understanding of mechanical blueprints and electrical diagrams.Understanding of quality assurance systems.General understanding of cutting tools and material (machining).General understanding of production control in mass-production manufacturing.Solid problem-solving skills using a variety of statistical and root cause tools.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Experience with lean production concepts and tools.Positive attitude to support company policies and flexibility with new ideas and different environments.Motivational and supervisory skills in large groups and train others.Ability to work overtime and weekends when necessary.Ability to deal with stress and emergency situations.Highly motivated and high energy level.Understand and implement IATF16949 and ISO 14001 as foundational principles of operations.Able to learn to operate and maintain various equipment at an acceptable level with emphasis on quality, IATF 16949 standard, ISO 14001 standard, safety/environmental, housekeeping, and productivity.Able to perform in a team environment.Education and Experience:Associate's Degree and/or 5+ years of experience in mass-production manufacturing.3+ years of Supervisory experience or more preferred.Work Environment/Physical Demands:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
