The key areas of focus for this position are as follows; Directs the work activities of quality personnel within the company's operations and is directly responsible for overseeing Humboldt Redwood Company's Scotia Sawmill quality systems. Assure safe workplace practices are followed and promote safety awareness;Manage lumber quality and grade to maximize value;Manage size control program, statistical process control, and optimization systems. Performs grade checks and works with graders providing training and promoting development of grader skills;Performs QC audits at sawmill, planer, green and dry yards, dry kilns and log deck;Focus on continuous improvement, customer requirements and product quality;Identify opportunities and take measures to reduce waste and inefficiencies;Carry out special projects as assigned;Discusses quality control concerns with management and Quality Assurance Director.
