Duties
This Supervisory Coordination Center Officer position is located at Nashville International Airport (BNA), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Duties include but are not limited to:
* Supporting security functions and operations such as Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR), Playbook, Screening Passengers by Observation Techniques (SPOT) operations, Transportation Security Specialist- Explosives (TSS-E) operations, Travel Document Check (TDC) operations, and other activities and applicable operations.
* Establishing and maintaining working relations with counterparts within TSA, as well as other Federal, state, and local agencies, airports, airlines, and other transportation sector modes. Participating in interagency committees, meetings, and exercises as a representative of TSA to gather and exchange information on matters of interest and to establish mutual working relationships.
* Ensuring that superiors are aware of ongoing activities. Providing guidance to supervisory and management officials, such as the Coordination Center Manager (CCM), Federal Security Director (FSD), or FSD staff on type and significance of information gathered, and recognizing the need to call important new information which may require further examination or action to their attention.
* Providing continuous situational and domain awareness to the CCM, FSD, or FSD staff on airport events, including information on incidents and emergencies, to include severe weather and natural disasters, terrorist attaches, and designated special events.
* Reviewing incident reports for accuracy and completeness to ensure proper reporting procedures have been followed. Assisting CCM or FSD staff members in preparing reports and briefings on issues related to significant security incidents, such as bomb threats, on-board disturbances, security access control events, airports screening operations, airport statistical data, and inspection and law enforcement activities.
Supervisory/Managerial duties include serving as a first line supervisor for the organization. This includes, but is not limited to: assigning work, setting priorities, and reviewing and evaluating work and performance of subordinates; approving leave; coaching and developing employees; recommending corrective or disciplinary actions; assisting in budget planning and projecting short-term needs; managing projects within assigned resources; resolving routine problems that typically impact the objectives of the organizational unit; and when required, coordinating with customers outside the immediate organization.
Emergency Essential Position: This position is designated as an Emergency Essential (EE) position. This designation requires the employee to remain in a duty status if an emergency arises.

Qualifications
To qualify for the SV-G Pay Band (equivalent to GS-10/11), you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-F or GS-9 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
* Understanding of the notification procedures involved in the preparation of incident response.
* Ability to monitor security systems in various situations to provide protection to people and property.
* Ability to detect, schedule, and document the need for staff/emergency responders to move to specific locations.
* Effectively worked in an emergency call or responsive dispatch center.
* Knowledge and understanding of work-related safety practices, OSHA, and environmental rules and regulations, particularly in trauma, disaster preparedness and responsiveness.
* Ability to use a computer and communication devices to perform essential functions of the position.
* Effective communication, analytical, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
