Duties

* Serve as the shift supervisor for the emergency services communications operations in the Directorate of Emergency Services 911 Dispatch Center, Fort Stewart, GA.

* Ensure the Emergency Medical Dispatching systems is operational and work with contractor ensuring technical repairs are conducted and the overall program is operational and maintained

* Responsible for the implementation of activities related to the dispatch communications and computer equipment.

* Evaluate 911 emergency calls, determine and dispatch immediate, emergency response and provides the caller with life support instructions.

* Perform crisis intervention with distraught emergency callers during high-risk situations until appropriate emergency field units arrive on scene.

* Maintain the security of the systems by ensuring that only authorized personnel are allowed access to the system

* Access law enforcement information from the Georgia Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center to system to inquiry and enter information as needed for law enforcement purposes

* Obtain and maintain Georgia Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center to provide training to subordinate employees

* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

* Position is subject to shift work where the incumbent is required to work an alternate work schedule, which requires an uncommon tour of duty(including nights, weekends and holidays.

* Required to work (mission essential) regardless of weather conditions, Terrorist Force Protection Condition or installation closure. The work is performed in a highly stressful, restricted office environment.

* The incumbent is required, at a minimum, to possess and maintain certifications in CPR, Emergency Medical Dispatch System operations, and Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) or equivalent.

* The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator 1 (PST1) certification.

* The incumbent is responsible for attaining continuing dispatch and Intrusion Detection education requirements through in-service training that is offered locally.

* Individual must possess and maintain a valid State of Georgia driver license and Army Traffic Safety Program.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

* This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program

* Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

* This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1)Evaluating 911 emergency calls to determine and dispatch immediate, emergency response; 2) Performing crisis intervention with distraught emergency callers during high-risk situations until appropriate emergency field units arrive on scene; 3) Providing training or guidance to individuals on handling emergency dispatching situations and/or the operation of emergency dispatching equipment and systems (such as 911 Dispatch Systems, National Crime Information Center, Emergency Medical Dispatching, TDD, etc. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
