The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a first level supervisor, providing planning, directing, organizing, and exercising control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the Child Development Center (CDC). To assist with the oversight and coordinate specialized developmental care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age in the child development program. To serve as a senior educational technician and provide support and guidance to appropriated fund (APF) employees, non-appropriated fund (NAF) employees, and other employees as assigned. Facilitates appropriate instruction for children in assigned areas of responsibility. The incumbent may be designated as the supervisor on duty, as needed, in operation of the center during extended hours and in the absence of the Assistant Director and/or Director. Knowledge of appropriate early childhood guidance practices, techniques and programs. • Knowledge of physical, intellectual, social, emotional and nutritional stages of development of young children in applying basic child development principles, concepts, practices to perform CDC operation assignments. • Skill in communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing. • Ability to adapt planned activities for children's individual skills. • Ability to ensure the safety and hygiene of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space and proper management of equipment. • Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions. • Ability to plan, organize, and direct subordinate employees and foster effective working relationship with others.
