We are seeking our next Supplemental Instructor - Adult Education and Literacy - Distance Learning who will be all-in on our mission and who will co-teach and support students in developing the skills necessary to enroll in a Career Pathway. This includes providing instruction to help students complete the High School Equivalency (HSE) examination, supporting students in Career Pathway certification programs through Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training (I-BEST), and facilitating academic workshops. Qualifications EDUCATION:Required: Bachelor's Degree.Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Education with certification in one of the following areas
- K-6 Generalist
- Grades 6-8 Math or Language Arts
- Grades 7-12 Math or Language Arts
EXPERIENCE:Required: One (1) year of experience performing administrative duties, teaching in higher education or K-12.Preferred: Experience using Blackboard or similar Learning Management Systems. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Co-teach and provide supplemental instruction in subject areas such as Math, Reading, Language, Listening, Speaking, and Writing.
- Prepare lesson plans and create engaging learning environments using student-centered teaching strategies.
- Perform administrative duties to ensure compliance with Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) grant requirements.
- Prepare students for Texas Success Initiative (TSI) state or national exams and support credential achievement.
- Deliver instruction tailored to help students earn their HSE, transition into college, succeed in certificate programs, and secure employment at a living wage.
- Collect, scan, and mail student sign-in sheets weekly.
- Run TEAMS reports and use other AEL data management systems.
- Record and submit student attendance and clock hours using Google Docs and other data systems.
- Administer valid TWC pre-assessments and progress assessments.
- Collaborate with instructors to assess and address students' academic needs and progress.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and in-service training.
- Assist with the enrollment and onboarding process for new students.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- Ability to work a consistent schedule, Monday through Thursday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, ensuring dependable and uninterrupted student support and program delivery.
Salary: Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position.Pay grade 10 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.Working Conditions: Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
