JOB/POSITION TITLE: Supplemental Programs Director

OFFICE/CAMPUS: Supplemental Programs/Elementary

REPORTS TO: Elementary Principal

STATUS: 12 Months (Exempt)

SALARY RANGE: $54,387 to $73,422

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To provide a supplemental enrichment program which enhances the HBA learning experience and ensure a conducive and safe environment of care for all students during after school, intersessions and summer school.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:

General Responsibilities:

  • Work cooperatively with Principals, Curriculum Coordinators, Admissions Officers, Physical Plant, secretaries, Registrar and pertinent Department Heads of respective campuses
  • Assist the principal in the collaborative development, implementation, and ongoing refinement of the school's Strategic Master Plan and Accreditation
  • Share the love and faith in Jesus Christ with students

Supplemental Programs Director Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, innovate and implement Supplemental Programs; fall, winter and spring elementary intersessions and summer school for elementary, middle and high school
    • Recruit, select, supervise, coach and evaluate faculty and staff for supplemental programs
    • Ensure proper licensing with appropriate government agencies
    • Research and order necessary curriculum resources for programs
    • Work collaboratively with Curriculum Coordinators in determining curriculum to be offered
    • Discipline students within Supplemental Program activities
    • Develop, write, and coordinate publication of intersession brochures, summer school catalogs, online registration software, and website updates
    • Coordinate advertising with Director of Communications
  • Work collaboratively with the JK-12 Registrar to update transcripts, progress reports and summer school report cards
  • Coordinate and oversee contract vendors (after school, summer school)
  • Develop and maintain department budget
  • Direct supervision of the Supplemental Programs team, including maintaining a good supervisory working relationship with all staff. This includes encouraging open dialogue about individual concerns, difficulties and new ideas
  • Ensure the safety of students and staff

OTHER DUTIES/FUNCTIONS:

  • Process expenses, i.e., PO's, invoices
  • Conduct Supplemental Program staff meetings
  • Perform other clerical duties, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment and Software Use: Computer, Smart Board/SmartTV, Digital Camera, iPad, Chromebook, Google docs/calendars/forms, FinalSite, myBackpack, Blackbaud, Google Classroom
  • Work Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm. Generally, 8 hours per day, more as needed during peak intersession and summer school periods, and during absence of ASEP Coordinator.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to function during intense peak periods of intersession and summer school and to prioritize tasks and projects. Analytical and critical thinking ability, attention to detail, concentration, and decision making. Ability to see both overall picture and detail. Ability to do long-range planning. Exercises good judgement, able to make sound decisions
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods of time. moving equipment, walking around campus to oversee classroom activities; assisting on field trips as needed by either intersession programs or ASEP.
  • Social Demands: Ability to communicate with all stakeholders in a friendly and concise way.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Spiritual: Must have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their life and; demonstrate a living relationship with Jesus Christ as described in “The Baptist Faith and Message”, the tenets of the Southern Baptist denomination.
  • Skills/Knowledge: Highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. The ability to push oneself to constantly seek out new and innovative ideas. Adequate background to teach the basics, continuing intellectual curiosity about the field of computers. Ability to work with a variety of people; team player. Ability to motivate others to reach their fullest potential.
  • Education/Training: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Elementary Education and background in curriculum development.
  • Experience: Five years of experience in classroom teaching, preferably at the elementary level. Experience collaborating with teachers as well as supervisory/management experience.
