Job Summary:
The Supplier Engineer manages and improves the quality and efficiency of materials, components, and services provided by suppliers to maintain the integrity of the supply chain and ensure the final products meet the desired quality standards.
Levels of experience we will be interested in:
- Supplier Engineer I BS in Engineering with 0-2 years of engineering experience
- Supplier Engineer II BS in Engineering with 1-3 years of engineering experience
- Supplier Engineer III BS in Engineering with 2-4 years of engineering experience
- Sr. Supplier Engineer BS in Engineering with 3-5 years of engineering experience
- Principal Supplier Engineer BS in Engineering with 5-7 years of engineering experience
Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluating and selecting suppliers based on their ability to meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements. This role tracks supplier performance using key metrics to address issues and ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications through regular audits and assessments. The Supplier Engineer collaborates with suppliers and provides technical assistance to help meet product requirements by enhancing manufacturing processes, reducing defects, identifying potential supply chain risks, and developing strategies to mitigate impacts to production.
Key Attributes:
- Proficient with quality control methods, statistical process control (SPC), (FMEA, and root cause analysis to ensure supplier quality
- Technical expertise with deep understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes to evaluate and improve supplier capabilities
- Experience with supplier management, selection, evaluation, and development to build strong relationships and ensure reliable supply chains
- Problem-Solving skills with ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues related to supplier performance and product quality
- Ability to manage projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring to ensure timely delivery of quality components
- Understanding of industry standards and regulations to ensure supplier compliance with legal and safety requirements
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to enhance supplier performance and efficiency
- Ability to analyze and manage costs associated with supplier components and materials to optimize the supply chain
