Sterling Search Partners is helping a growing Birmingham client with its search for a Director of Supply Chain. The Director of Supply Chain is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the company's supply chain operations and management of fixed assets. This includes ensuring the efficient movement of goods, optimizing inventory levels, and overseeing the acquisition, management, and disposal of assets. The Director will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in supply chain processes, reduce costs, and maximize the return on investment for company assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Supply Chain Management:
- Lead the end-to-end supply chain process, including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and distribution.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
- Oversee demand forecasting, inventory planning, and supplier relationship management to ensure the right balance between supply and demand.
- Monitor and assess supply chain performance using KPIs and other performance metrics; develop corrective actions as needed.
- Work with suppliers and partners to ensure the timely delivery of goods, materials, and services to support production and operational needs.
- Implement supply chain risk management strategies, addressing potential disruptions, delays, and inventory shortages.
Fixed Assets Management:
- Oversee the acquisition, deployment, tracking, maintenance, and disposal of fixed assets, including machinery, equipment, and vehicles.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations related to asset depreciation, capital expenditure, and asset reporting.
- Develop and enforce policies for asset management to protect company assets and maximize their useful life.
- Collaborate with finance and operations teams to ensure accurate asset reporting and financial reconciliation.
- Coordinate periodic audits of fixed assets, addressing discrepancies and implementing corrective actions.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain and asset management team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation within the team and across departments.
- Identify training needs and opportunities for staff development to enhance performance and capability.
Budgeting and Financial Oversight:
- Manage the supply chain and fixed asset budget, ensuring that expenditures align with business objectives and financial goals.
- Evaluate cost-saving opportunities within the supply chain and asset management functions and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Work closely with senior management and department heads (e.g., Operations, Finance, IT, Sales, and Procurement) to align supply chain and asset management strategies with overall business objectives.
- Provide strategic recommendations to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance operational effectiveness.
Technology and Process Improvement:
- Leverage data analytics and business intelligence tools to drive continuous improvements and make data-driven decisions in supply chain and asset management.
- Ensure that the company is adopting best practices, technologies, and methodologies to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in supply chain management and asset management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes, including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and distribution.
- Experience with fixed asset management, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving process improvements.
- Experience with supply chain management systems and asset tracking software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
