Overview: The Supply Chain Specialist is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's overall supply chain and logistics strategy and operations to maximize process efficiency and productivity. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, manufacturers, and customers to ensure a smooth and cost-effective flow of goods from raw materials to finished products. Essential Job Functions:
- Strategic Planning and Forecasting:
- Develop and implement strategic supply chain plans that align with the organization's objectives.
- Forecast future demand to ensure the availability of necessary supplies.
- Set goals and objectives for supply chain operations.
- Procurement and Sourcing:
- Identify and select suppliers and manage supplier relationships.
- Ensure suppliers meet quality standards and are cost-effective.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues that arise.
- Purchase order placement and maintenance.
- Inventory Management and Control:
- Determine optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand without overstocking.
- Monitor stock levels and track inventory in real-time.
- Implement inventory management best practices to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Internal point of contact for current and future inventory based on inventory and open purchase orders.
- Logistics and Transportation:
- Manage the transportation of goods from suppliers to customers.
- Select the best transport options and negotiate contracts with carriers and freight forwarders.
- Ensure timely delivery of products and manage shipping schedules.
- Supplier Relationship Management:
- Maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable and timely supply of goods.
- Utilize relationship-building skills to manage supplier performance and resolve conflicts.
- Risk Management and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Identify potential risks to the supply chain and implement measures to mitigate them.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and handle hazardous materials safely.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor supply chain performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Analyze supply chain data to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions.
- Prepare and present performance reports to management.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1-5 years of experience in supply chain management or a related role required.
- Must possess analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively including the ability to negotiate.
- Must be proficient in supply chain management software and tools.
Must have some knowledge of industry best practices and regulations.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP, CPIM).
- Netsuite or similar ERP experience
- Experience with advanced analytics and logistics software.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices in supply chain management.
Physical Requirements: This is a primarily sedentary position, however, standing desks are available for use. Associates may occasionally climb stairs, bend, stoop, walk, lift up to 10 lbs, and crouch as needed.
