Secures parts/supplies needed by Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technicians to repair and/or maintain vehicles and equipment. Compiles and maintains records of items received and issued. Ensures that compliance with SCDOT specifications. Assist Shop Foreman in contacting vendors for parts and supplies, solicits bids and makes local purchases in accordance with the Department Procurement Policies. Serves a s liaison with vendors to ensure rapid and accurate supply transactions. Confirms with mechanics to ensure the correct parts/supplies are ordered. Maintains detailed inventory records of supplies and equipment on hand. Keeps accurate records of all materials, equipment received, inspects shipments and reconciles packing slips or manifests with actual items, maintains records of acquisition, transfer and disposal of all equipment and vehicles. Performs periodic inventories according to SCDOT standards and prepares inventory reports. Initiates job sheets for repairs to vehicles and equipment using Equipment Maintenance/Equipment Service Module System. Confirms accuracy on all paperwork, ensuring parts/supplies are charged to proper vehicle/equipment. Checks mileages for assurance that the PM program stays in check with the mileage program. Completes monthly reports and maintains fuel card transactions for Shop Foreman and outside vendors. Ensures accuracy and submittal in a timely manner. Works along with all supervisors to ensure that all mileage is turned in correctly on weekly PM sheets. Performs administrative duties, posting, closing and printing Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technicians time and entering into HMMS. Maintains radio and telephone, taking requests for service on a daily basis during the Administrative Assistant's lunch break, as well as, during his/her absence for annual/sick leave. Works during inclement weather, as well as, any other emergency situations, and may be required to work 12 hour shifts. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum and Additional Requirements A high school diploma and six (6) months of work experience directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator's license is required.The physical demands for the essential functions of this position include sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods and working on a computer. This position requires working in an office environment, warehouse environment, and/or outside in all weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
