The Evening Shift Support Partner at A New Leaf's East Valley Men's Center plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and supportive environment for residents. This position involves monitoring client check-ins/outs, conducting safety checks, and performing regular facility rounds to ensure cleanliness and order. Responsibilities include crisis intervention, de-escalation support, and enforcing program guidelines with therapeutic communication. The Support Partner also assists with kitchen duties, including meal preparation and adhering to food safety standards, while supporting clients with daily life skills and reinforcing program expectations. - High School or GED preferred.
Experience:
- 0-1 years of experience working with homeless or economically disadvantaged population
- Demonstrate and provide strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Committed to teamwork and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of Trauma Informed Care.
- The skills necessary to engage and work with others from diverse ethnic and cultural groups, coupled with always maintaining professionalism.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in weekly staff and training meetings.
- Use therapeutic responses in interactions with clients and staff; do not threaten dismissal except for safety reasons. Educate clients on behavior and consequences.
- Enforce program participation requirements and manage client check-in/out and safety protocols, including thorough item checks upon entry.
- Perform regular safety rounds and ensure facility cleanliness and safety.
- Direct client requests or issues to case managers; maintain professional, respectful communication at all times.
- Handle phone calls, voicemail, and emergency situations as needed.
- Oversee kitchen duties, maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards. Prepare meals, oversee client chores, and ensure proper food storage.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support, using therapeutic responses and recognizing mental health/addiction symptoms.
- Educate clients on program rules, chores, and fire safety.
- Communicate professionally by email following the chain of command; escalate issues appropriately.
- Document client attendance, late or overnight alerts, and safety concerns. Walk the property regularly to report maintenance needs.
- Follow personal schedule and clocking procedures, arrange coverage when absent, and request overtime approval.
- Demonstrate awareness of personal biases; provide clients with education on critical life skills.
- Stock and organize supplies, stay alert during overnight shifts, and cover scheduling gaps when needed.
