Position Type: Support Staff/ParaprofessionalDate Posted: 10/18/2023Location: Osceola High SchoolOSCEOLA SCHOOL DISTRICT #1 Special Education Paraprofessional Job Description This job description describes in general terms the normal duties that the paraprofessional will be expected to undertake. However, the job, duties, and/or location described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the job. Duties will vary depending upon the age of students served, as well as, the nature and severity of the student's disability. Instructional Support:
- Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the classroom teachers. This includes assisting in the preparation/display of student's work.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress. This includes maintaining various records and files.
- Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities.
- Work with other professionals, such as speech, occupational and physical therapists to provide programmed practice activities and repetitions developed by the therapist.
- Support students with emotional or behavior concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.
- Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Student Support:
- Assist students with personal care tasks, including but not limited to clothing, hygiene, diapering, toileting, and wash-up routines.
- Escort students as assigned by teacher or administrator.
- Lift, move, and operate adaptive equipment.
- Assist student with mobility needs such as, lifting and positioning students, lifting in and out of wheelchairs; loading and unloading on the bus; transporting students in and around the school and on field trips.
- Monitor students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
- Report student concerns directly and expeditiously to teacher and assist with student resolution.
- Assist with breakfast, lunch snack, including clean-up.
Other:
- Arrive to work on time. Arrival time is 7:30 a.m. or depending on your campus time and your end time is at 3:30 p.m.

- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
