Support Services Technician

The City of Overland Park has a full-time Support Services Technician position available in the Fire Department Department.

SUMMARY:

Picks up and delivers parts and equipment. Picks up and delivers mail between fire stations, City Hall, Fire Training Center and Fire Administration. Picks up and delivers emergency apparatus for repair. Assists ordering and inventory management of supplies, tools and equipment used in all areas of Fire Department. Assists in emergency operations, as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

* Basic education or equivalent.

* Possession of a valid driver's license.

* Must maintain an insurable driving record.

* Must have or obtain a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements within six months of employment with the City.

* Will be assigned to on-call snow duty rotation with the Public Works department on a seasonal basis.

EXPERIENCE:

* None required.

* Experience driving emergency apparatus preferred.

SKILLS:

Manual dexterity.

Good listening skills.

Ability to work independently.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to carry out assignments through oral and written instructions.

Ability to analyze safety situation.

Alpha and numeric recognition.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to reach, stand, bend, lift, push, pull and walk for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift 50 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. frequently each day.

Ability to operate City vehicles and equipment.

Exposure to extreme weather conditions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (Direct & Indirect):

None.

Normal Work Hours: Variable Hours

Salary Range: Grade B $20.50 - $27.06 Per Hour

WINTER INCENTIVES:

Bonus of $500 per season ($100 per month) for all responders

Dynamic Pay for Active Participation

Active Duty Pay Differential

CDL + $14.00 per hour

Non-CDL + $7.00 per hour

Support + $3.00 per hour
