Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for supervising assigned staff in accordance with their job descriptions, maintaining a high standard of work and is responsible for timely and accurate reporting on all shifts. Remains cognizant of accrediting agency requirements and maintains manuals, logs and other documents to their standards. Is aware of and implements fire and safety regulations. Aids in developing and implementing all policies relating to Quality Assurance, Quality Control, the handling and disposal of hazardous materials within their section. Shows leadership, delegates responsibility, establishes accountability among his/her staff, participates in and encourages continuing education. Performs regular inservices, orientates new staff, performs annual evaluation and prepares work schedules, maintains inventory and staffing within budgetary limitations. Performs bench work from time to time as needed and in accordance with Policy and Procedures. May be required to supervise the entire laboratory on rotating weekends and holidays, to attend laboratory related committee meetings and to perform other such duties as required by the Laboratory Manager. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 5 years post graduate hospital experience with previous supervisory experience preferred.
2. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
1. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology or related lab science.
2. Registered Medical Technologist, certified by national registry such as MT(ASCP) or CLS(MLS) is required or must acquire within six (6) months of hire.
