Assists the patient with all aspects of pre-operative preparations in order to promote confidence in their medical care and deliver a quality surgical experience. Provides follow through and communicates with the appropriate staff to ensure the needs of the patient are taken care of in a prompt manner. Although duties may vary by assigned area or shift, the following accurately describes the essential job functions.Education & Experience:At least 2 years of ophthalmology experience preferred.Experience in surgical scheduling or a surgical environment is preferred.Current COA certification preferred.Essential Skills and Abilities:Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (patients, staff, management, and physicians).Maintain a professional, respectful, and friendly image.Ability to prioritize and work independently and as a team player.Experience with an EMR system is preferred.Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple demands on a daily basis.Well-organized with attention to detail while working in a fast paced environment.Takes responsibility for personal actions.Possesses a commitment to quality and excellence.Knowledgeable of ophthalmic conditions, surgeries and treatment.Positive representation of the mission and vision of the Illinois Eye Center.
