What you will be doing:
- Schedule hospital or office-based procedures, surgeries and follow up testing;
- Complete prior authorizations and verify insurance;
- Provide patients and facilities with applicable instructions, forms and consents and ensure all pre-testing is completed;
- Ensure patients have proper medical clearance and have completed all applicable documents;
- Schedule standby or supplemental Providers for procedures and surgeries, if applicable;
- Coordinate any special equipment and pharmaceutical needs with vendor representatives and facility or department manager;
- Provide assistance to patients and their families in regard to preparing for surgery or procedure by answering questions and addressing concerns;
- Manage incoming mail and fax documents in accordance with company policy and process medical record requests;
- Process lab and testing orders as directed by Providers;
- Prepare charts for tumor board based on the list provided by GLIN;
- Assist with clinic scheduling in the cases of special cases and add on appointments;
- Manage the assigned provider's calendar, including scheduling, coordinating, prioritizing, and tracking appointments, meetings, commitments, and other events and tasks;
- Review documents received for accuracy and return appropriately, including hours reporting and call schedules, licensing information, and credentialing requirements;
- Prepare for and schedule meetings with vendors, partners, and organizations as directed by the provider;
- Manage administrative tasks such as travel plans, expense submission, meeting space coordination, and day to day responsibilities;
- Deliver exemplary customer service in order to provide a positive patient experience across the organization;
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education and experience you need:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- One year of surgical scheduling experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical records systems is required. Experience in Microsoft Outlook and Excel preferred.
- Detail-oriented, strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to utilize computer programs.
