Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our General Surgery team. This role involves working closely with surgeons to provide exceptional care across the entire surgical process, from pre-operative evaluations to post-operative management. You will be an integral part of a collaborative care team in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Surgical Assistance:
  • Assist in surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment and proper instrument management throughout all phases of surgery.
  • Patient Evaluation and Management:
  • Perform patient assessments, including medical histories and physical exams, and develop personalized care plans with the surgical team.
  • Post-Operative Care:
  • Monitor recovery, manage post-operative complications, and provide patient education on discharge instructions, medication, and follow-up care.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Coordinate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other professionals to ensure optimal patient care, and maintain clear communication with patients and families.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Participate in life-saving interventions and remain prepared for emergencies in the surgical setting through ongoing training.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate, detailed patient records in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program (minimum Bachelor's degree required).
  • Certification as a PA-C or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
  • BLS, ACLS, and AED certifications from the American Heart Association (online certifications not accepted).
  • DEA registration required for those involved in patient discharge.
