Job Summary and QualificationsThe Surgical Technician Coordinator ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. You will direct, and evaluate patient care in accordance with established policies/procedures, and serve as a resource person for staff.
· You will independently scrub complex surgical procedures for your service line primarily but be able to scrub other procedures as needed.
· Assist in development of service line goals and objective, assist in development of service line budget, assists in development/review/revision of service line standards, determines service line assignments and plans for adequate resources based on workload and extraneous activities.
· Possess a working knowledge of power instrumentation, video equipment, microscopes and complex instrumentation/equipment.
· You shall assist with the nursing care of the patient under the direct and indirect supervision of an OR Registered Nurse and function as a sterile scrub person caring for patients undergoing surgery within the OR suite.
· You may assist with duties of a circulating nurse under the immediate supervision of a circulating RN and assist the Clinical Coordinator in support of their surgical services.
Experience:
· Completion of Surgical Technician Course or equivalent required.
· Surgical Technician certification required.
· VA Surgical Technologist Licensure in accordance with the Commonwealth of Virginia
· Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as surgical technician or scrubbing experience and/or SPD experience
· Basic Life Support certification required.
*Service Line experience preferred includes: Cardiac, thoracic, vascular, non-robotic urology, gynecology, general, trauma, plastics, OMFS and ENT
