They are a go-to resource for the other staff members working for the company. Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Assists physicians with office based procedures and office based procedures under conscious sedation by setting up proper equipment for specific procedures; participating in the time out procedure; assisting in actual procedure.
- Assists physicians with patient visits, including putting patients in rooms, interviewing patients and associated documentation.
- Organizes exam rooms, including general cleaning, upkeep, and re-ordering/re-stocking of supplies.
- Carries out medical and surgical asepsis during treatments and special procedures.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Demonstrates appropriate hand washing technique to ensure proper infection control and follows universal precautions.
- Provide general support to patients and staff, act as the point of contact for internal and external clients.
- Answer and direct phone calls, organize and schedule appointments.
- Assist in the maintenance of the department's daily workflow.
- Order office /surgical supplies and research new deals and suppliers.
- Organize inventory.
- Assisting in maintaining contact lists of vendors.
- Adheres to GLMI policies and procedures.
- Work efficiently and collaboratively with PSRs, Registered Nurses, Physician Assistant's Technologists and Physicians
- Assist in assembling patients' charts and documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Necessary Skills: Knowledge of Interventional Radiology procedures.. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and physicians. Fast paced environment, must be well organized and detail oriented. Must be able to multitask. Background Interventional Radiology preferred.Qualifications:
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist.
- Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist desired.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, co-workers, vendors and the public.
- Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude is essential.
- Travel to any of the Great Lakes locations is necessary.
- Knowledge of medical scheduling/billing/collection practices.
- Knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment
- Skilled in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and employees.
- Must be well organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to address and resolve conflict in a professional manner.
- Ability to be flexible.
- High degree of verbal communication and interpersonal skills in interactions with others including a patient population with varying degrees of illness and health.
- 1 year experience in related field preferred.
- Must be able to multitask.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Sitting, Standing, for long periods of time
- May be asked to lift up to 50 pounds
- Almost continuous noise inherent to the scanning equipment.
- Associated health risks related to patient exposure.
- Some lifting of files and x -rays, not usually in excess of 15 pounds.
- Must be able to visually observe and verbally interact with patients.
- Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job with the type of judgments and potential consequences outlined above.
- Exposed to some noises, odors, diseases, threat of infection, etc. Normal heat, light, air space and safe working environment.
