Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Perform the roles and responsibilities for CAD Technician as listed on the Accountability Chart.
- Draft plans, and detailed drawings for specialty projects, such as- Civil Construction, Environmental Remediation, Demolition, and Geotechnical Construction.
- Interpret engineering PDF plan sets, rough sketches or notes, to produce drawings using computer assisted drafting systems (CAD), mainly: AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Agtek.
- Incorporate data from topographical surveys, and geophysical reports to prepare drawings.
- Calculate weights, cut and fill volumes, and stress factors and their implications for technical aspects of designs. Make calculations for excavation tonnage, and earth-moving operations.
- Use mathematics to solve problems, and the knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Prepare drawing take-offs calculating construction volume quantities from existing design drawings.
- Draft technical cross-sections, plan and profiles, topographical 3D contour surfaces, grading excavation, demolition plans, site plans, maps, diagrams, using engineering plans, surveys, and field data.
- Draft slurry walls, cut-off wall profiles, elevations, and submittal drawings.
- Draft proposed truck haul-route plans, staging area, and traffic control plan drawings.
- Create Excel spreadsheets, for Volume calculations, Stations, Northing & Easting, Elevations, Point descriptions, etc. Create and manipulate comma delimited text files for transferal to field personnel or third-party engineering.
- Create CAD Template Styles for drawings, Title-Blocks, and implement CAD Standard procedures.
- Write reports and written procedures using Microsoft Word.
- Prepare As-Built documentation for submittal processes; calculate final As-Built quantities for payment submittals.
- Estimate quantities from design drawings, to be used for bidding projects, and prepare proposal drawings, along with technical documentation.
- Assist Project Managers with field design changes, engineering change orders on projects, and provide adjustments as necessary.
- Explain drawings to production or construction teams and interact with engineering personnel.
- Create work project binders; create CDs for all projects; file documentation; plot / print drawings sets.
- Organize the electronic file directory structure, clean-up, catalog projects, and archive directories. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent computer skills including knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
- Proficient knowledge of the Land Survey industry and efficient data collection is a plus.
- Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, error evaluation, and scientific method.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Above average oral and written communication skills, leadership skills, along with use creativity applied to resolution of issues.
- Highly proactive and responsive to internal and external customers, including engineers.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and advise project leadership on complex issues.

- Ability to work with all levels of management. Experience/Education
- Bachelor's degree in CAD Technology, drafting, or a related field preferred. In lieu of degree, equivalent experience required.
- One to three years of experience as a CAD Technician within the engineering or construction industry.
- Experience with CAD drawing systems, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience with Trimble Business Center preferred.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to drive on behalf of company business.

- Able to understand and utilize management reports, memos, and other documents to conduct business. Primarily an office position. At time site visits and field project visits are required. Travel to offices and projects in various location around the country as needed. The following physical activities or abilities are commonly, but not always, associated with site visits.
- Be able to stand or walk on a project site for extended durations.
- When on project sites or if performing some types of work activity wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, earplugs, protective eyewear, gloves, hard hat, steel toed work boots, and high visibility safety apparel. Work Environment The job is primarily performed indoors in a traditional office setting and occasionally outdoors at construction sites. The following environmental/atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. The actual working conditions will vary.
