Job Description:
Operates instruments and measuring devices needed to complete different types of survey work assignments, i.e. electronic data collector, static/RTK GPS devices, total stations, automatic levels; stays current with available equipment technology.Assists the survey crew chief in the maintenance of instruments, measuring devices and general equipment, including calibration, function and cleanliness.Logs field data, angles, distances and sketches in field book; maintains clear, concise and accurate field notes in strict accordance with company standards and client requirements.Uses calculator to perform simple computations.Holds level, prism, or stadia rod at designated points to assist in determining elevations or survey points for map making, construction stake out, mining and other surveys.Uses sledgehammer to hammer stakes, rebar, nails and other survey markers into the ground at designated points and specified elevations.Marks survey stakes and survey points with elevation, station number, or other identifying marks with the use of a magic marker, keel, spray paint, scratches, tacks and other marking devices.Measures distance between survey points with cloth tape and other survey equipment.Uses metal detector and shovel to recover survey control monumentation or survey control.Cuts and clears brush and trees from line of survey with a machete, brush axe or similar device.Supports the survey crew chief in the completion of tasks assigned to the field crew.Assists the survey crew chief in maintaining the survey vehicle in a clean, safe and professional manner.Makes his or herself available for long distance travel requiring overnight stays.Loads and unloads equipment and/or expendable supplies in the survey vehicle each day prior to traveling to and from the jobsite; places equipment on charge in preparation for the next use.#J-18808-Ljbffr
